Thankful Thursday

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I can admit that I indulged more than I should've but I just couldn't help myself. Never the less I enjoyed my holiday with my favorite people...my family. Here is my OOTD from yesterday so I guess its my OOTY! lol. I bought this fur vest last year from Forever 21and it still feels soft and it has held up very well. I was playing around with this top I got from the Goodwill and I thought hey, why don't I take the belt off of the vest and add it around my waist! Bam! I added some simple gold hoop earrings and I was ready for my day. Just adding the belt was simple but it gave the top a totally different look. That's why I love fashion. You can create looks with the things you already have and rock it. Also I had to mention that I'm so in love with my new fall bag. I got it from a small boutique store in San Francisco called Marian's. (they don't have a website) My jeans are Rock and Republic Similar Here and I wore my BCBG black suede booties. Enjoy Black Friday and I will catch up with you all soon.

Smooth Lips are a must

e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator from Target

I will admit that during the cold seasons my lips get rather dry and peel a lot. It is very frustrating and I have been unsuccessful in finding a simple and cheap remedy until now. I saw the e.l.f. lip exfoliator in my current Vanity Fair magazine issue and I decided next time I was in Target I would try it out. I love it!! Not only does it make my lips feel good it smells and tastes good too! You can find this amazing and yet very affordable lip savior at Target for $3.00 in the e.l.f. makeup section. Here is the link to buy it online HERE. I promise you won't be disappointed. I think I found a stocking stuffer everyone will use and enjoy.

"Gently exfoliate lips to remove dry, chapped skin with our Lip Exfoliator! A sweet sugar and smoothing sensation, infused with Vitamin E, Shea Butter, Avocado, Grape and Jojoba Oils to nourish and protect. This Lip Exfoliator treats and smoothes lips for a conditioned and revitalized feel."

The opinions on my site are my own and are not affliated with Target

California Love

Front cover of album

Back cover of album
Here are some shots that didn't make the album but I liked them

Hello everyone. Hope you all are settling in to fall. Here in California the weather has been nice. We are still getting some sunshine and no sign of rain. I was excited to post my class project that I just completed today. This project involved creating an album cover. The assignment was to create a title, style the album from front to back (with graphics) , and include 5 songs as the soundtrack. It was a bit challenging coming up with a concept because there are so many genres of music. So I stuck to my roots and decided to go with a Califonia theme. The album cover was shot using the concepts about our beautiful women, our hot cars, and our beautiful weather. Of course for the soundtrack we added classic songs from Dr. Dre and Tupac ( all with our cali inspired theme). The cars we used for the shoot were old school cadillacs.! they were gorgeous and in mint condition. I would have to say adding the graphics was pretty intense not to mention editing the photos. I still have so much to learn about creating the perfect photo. I am learning as I go and I am enjoying the whole process. Hope your weekend was awesome. Shout out to all of our veterans, tomorrow we celebrate you!

Enjoy your week loves thank you for checking in!

Look who stepped in front of the camera!

Fashion Inspired by Art.

For this styling project, we honored the influence of art in fashion and paid homage to the upcoming Art Basel event in Miami. The assignment was to creat an accessorized head-to-toe look inspired by this modern art painting. My painting was called "Lovers in the red sky" by Marc Chagall. My inspiration came from the two lovers in the middle of the photo. I decided to go with a burlesque boudoir styling. I wanted something sexy and sophisticated. This woman is showing her lover the treat he has in store for him. She wants to give him a visual piece of art with her body. Instead of finding a model for this assignement I decided to step in front of the camera and play model, stylist, art director, and photograhper for the day..whew! I had fun but I really commend models for doing what they do. It wasn't as glamorous as it may seem. Standing, holding your pose, bending, not mention the wig had me sweating like crazy. Never the less it was a great experience and my Professor said she really liked my presentation on powerpoint. By the way my husband did approve the photo ;) Have a great week everyone and talk to you soon.

"Green Arrow" Photo Shoot

Oliver "Ollie" Queen

Green Arrow

Me and Green Arrow on location

Hello Everyone. I hope your weekend is going awesome. It's still sunny and beautiful here in Northern California. I have to admit I don't want fall to come quite yet. I am still enjoying my toes being out! So this post is from a phototshoot I had last weekend. In my styling class we were given the assignment to create a comic book. We were given a comic book character and we had to style that character's hidden identity as well as his/her superhero/villain. Let me just say this was alot of fun. The main objective of this assignment was to create wearable fashion without the styling looking like a costume. Let me give you the story line for those of you who arent familiar with the Green Arrow. Oliver "Ollie" Queen was born into wealth. He was a handsome ladies man who lived a comfortable life. He had a girlfriend who was ready for him to settle down and commit. In fear of committment Oliver runs off and takes his girlfriend's sister on a trip aboard his families yacht. The yacht is destroyed in a ship wreck and the only survivors are Oliver and his father. While trying to survive this horrible shipwreck Oliver's father tells him some devastating news. He tells his son that their wealth has been given to them on the account of others struggling. After revealing his secret Oliver's father asks his son for one request, that once he is rescued that he must go back and take revenge on all those who have brought their city down with crime. Oliver's father doesn't survive the wreckage but Oliver manages to wash up along an island. On this island their are corrupt people who want to destroy innocent people on the island. Oliver learns his survival skills while on this island. One of his master skills is in archery. He manages to get off the island and returns home. He returns home to see the city infested with crime and poverty. His mother insists on him taking a part in the family's business but Oliver declines. His only mission now, armed with his bow and arrow is to honor's his father's last wishes... and so a hero is here "Green Arrow" My model was my Ken Smith and my photographer was my Razon Tramble. We shot the Oliver Queen shots at a fabulous restaurant in Berkeley called The Five Restaurant. The Green Arrow shots were in an industrial area I found near my house. I had a great time creating the looks for the Green Arrow and my classmate Andrea created the looks for Oliver Queen. Thanks for checking out my post. Enjoy your weekend!

Happy Thoughts

This quote is for all my fashion divas who strategically plan their ensemble everyday! lol

Hello everyone. My sincerest apologies for my absence I have had several technical difficulties but never the less I am back. I have been reflecting on my personal and professional goals for the last couple of weeks. Things are coming together slowly but none the less my goals are becoming more and more of  a reality. I rely alot of self motivation and positive thinking to help me through difficult challenges that seem to always cross my path. I am thankful for these moments because they allow me to realize that I am still a work in progress. Soemtimes life gets really hard and we question our entire purpose but when I realize that my thoughts can change my perception and my reaction to life I get a sense of ease knowing its all working for my good. Have a great weekend. I have shared a few quotes that I like to read to help me get through the day.

Hello all. I had to take a much needed break from blogging to enjoy some fun weekend activities. I really missed blogging and hearing from you all so with that said I was excited to post this evening. Fall is quickly approaching even though its still beautiful weather in the high 80's here in Northern California. I just wanted to share one of my must haves for the season. GLOVES! How many of you actually own a nice pair of leather gloves? They are a great accessory to add to a fall coat, sweater,or blazer. Colored gloves can add that pop of color to your fall wardrobe. How about accessorizing your favorite lipstick with a matching glove..Hot! You can wear them out to a football or basketball game. (you can find a pair that match your favorite team color ) Check out a pair in an animal print or the ones I personally love the ones with studs! Of course the photos above are a bit pricey but I found some adorable ones that are quite affordable. So next time you are in your favorite department store stop by the accessory aisle and pick up your new fall must have...Colored gloves.
I LOVE THEM ALL.

Viva Dress Up Photo Shoot

My advanced styling class has been honored to collaborate with Viva Dress Up, an online consignment platform where charitable organizations can raise funds by donating gently worn special occasion dresses, which in turn are sold and  majority of the proceeds will be donated to your organization of choice. Ok now on to our group mission should we accept we must create four fashion images per dress (8 total)  that will be used in advertising materials to promote the CCSF Fashion Department dress drive that will benenfit next year's CCSF fashion show at Ruby Skye in San Francisco, Ca. The best thing about this opportunity is Viva Dress Up may even use our fashion images to be features on their website. The photo above is a picture of our two dresses that were chosen for us to style. The dress on the left is a Christian LaCroix coral colored maxi dress! We are solely in charge of finding our own photographer, model, hair and MUA, and also the complete styling for the dresses plus accessories. This project is due September 26. I would love to hear your comments on how you would style either dress. I will post our final fashion images so stay tuned...

I am so excited that my new favorite movie The Great Gatsby is now available on Blu-Ray. I saw this in the movie theatre and I was so blown away by the story, the fashion, and of course LEONARDO! He was so awesome in this movie not to mention extremely handsome. I read the book back in grade school but never quite understood the characters or the story but this movie brought the book back to life for me. This book was made in the 1920's also known as the Roaring Twenties. This era is when the "Flapper" woman was born. This type of woman was known to be "loose" she smoked, she drank, she danced and she cut her hair. I mentioned I am in fashion school so every now and then I have to give a little fashion history ;) . Check out the movie if you love fashion ( the fashion in this movie is insanely fabulous) and a good love story...plus Leonardo.

Mixed prints have been seen on the fashion runways everywhere. This trend makes it fun and easy to mix fabrics, shapes, and colors. It's playful, daring, and bold. I honestly love the fact that you can mix and match different clothing items to transition into different seasons. Here's a challenge for all my readers try creating your own mixed print look. It can be as simple as wearing a bold solid colored shoe with a mixed print hadbag. Send me a picture of your mixed print look and I will post it to the blog (if you would like your picture posted of course) Have fun and don't worry about what people might say...Be You, Be Bold.

Nail Stickers

As I mentioned before I am in Fashion School and at times I must be able to improvise when working with models. I had a model come to our photo shoot with nails that were a hot mess. We drove around for two hours trying to find nail polish remover. It was awful but yet a learning experience. So while I was in the .99 cent store I saw these and decided hey these might be a quick  photo shoot nail fix. I had one of my students from work be my nail model. First I applied a clear coat of polish before placing the stickers onto her nails. Second I measured the sticker to get the exact sizing for her nail, then I cut the sticker. Lastly I used the nail file that came inside of the pack to trim and file the stickers onto her nails! Not bad. These stickers come in a variety of fun colors and they were really easy to apply. Also they come in a set of 10 so you have a set for your toes also. Try these when going out and you don't have time to get a professional manicure. Enjoy.

Here's the same shoe in Black and Gold OMG these are giving me life right now

I absolutely love Gucci. This designer makes shoes with such elegance and sophistication. They remind me of hand crafted art. Here are a couple of shoes styles which make it clear why Gucci is Gucci. I found these photos while pinning on Pinterest. Which shoe would you love to have in your closet? What would you wear with them? Leave a comment and let me know how you would rock them.
